Introducing the Landmark Edition
The centerpiece of the latest update is the introduction of the new Landmark Edition. Positioned as a mid-level variant, this model focuses on unique cosmetic enhancements and a curated feature set. One of its most exclusive features is the new Tasman
Blue metallic paint option, a colour that pays homage to the original 1989 Discovery's Clearwater Blue. The exterior is further distinguished by Graphite Atlas finishing on the grille, fender vents, and 'Discovery' script. Unique branding details, including a mountain logo, can be found on the scuff plates, centre console, and even in the puddle lamp projections, subtly nodding to the vehicle's adventurous heritage.
Refined Design and Interior Comfort
Across the updated range, the Discovery receives subtle but impactful design tweaks. The Landmark Edition features newly designed 21-inch alloy wheels in a Dark Agate Grey finish. Inside, the cabin experience is elevated with premium materials and thoughtful features. The Landmark Edition boasts dark grey brushed aluminium accents and a 'Tech Velour' faux suede trim on the dashboard and doors. Aimed at enhancing family adventures, it also includes a sliding panoramic sunroof and a practical centre console refrigerator as part of its package. For added comfort, the vehicle comes equipped with an advanced Cabin Air Purification system with PM2.5 filtration, which monitors and cleans the air to ensure a healthier interior environment.
Key Technology and Convenience Upgrades
The upgrade is not just cosmetic; it brings meaningful technological enhancements. A core feature in the modernised cabin is the advanced Pivi Pro infotainment system, which is faster and more intuitive. Many models feature a large 11.4-inch HD touchscreen, a significant increase in size from previous versions, providing clearer access to navigation and media. Another key upgrade is the implementation of Software-Over-The-Air (SOTA) technology, allowing owners to update dozens of electronic modules remotely without needing to visit a dealership. Furthermore, all variants in the refreshed lineup now come standard with a driver attention monitoring system, boosting the vehicle's safety credentials.
Powertrain and Uncompromised Capability
Under the bonnet, the Discovery continues to offer a range of powerful and efficient Ingenium engines. The lineup typically includes 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol and diesel options. For instance, the D300 diesel engine produces around 296 hp and a formidable 650 Nm of torque, while the P360 petrol variant delivers approximately 355 hp and 500 Nm of torque. These engines are paired with an intelligent all-wheel-drive system that optimises torque distribution between the front and rear axles to maximise traction and on-road efficiency. The Discovery maintains its legendary off-road prowess, with a water-wading capacity of 900mm and a towing capacity of up to 3,500kg, ensuring it remains as capable as it is luxurious.
Market Position in India
With these updates, Land Rover is strategically strengthening the Discovery's position in India's competitive luxury SUV market. The introduction of distinct trims like the well-equipped Landmark Edition and the top-tier Tempest Edition creates a clearer product hierarchy for buyers. While pricing for the new Landmark Edition is yet to be formally announced in India, it is listed on the company's website, signalling an imminent launch. The broader Discovery range competes with established rivals such as the BMW X5, Audi Q7, and Volvo XC90. This landmark upgrade, with its blend of heritage-inspired design, modern technology, and undiminished capability, makes a compelling case for the Discovery as a versatile and desirable seven-seat family SUV.
