A Legacy Reborn
The Supersports nameplate is not one Bentley uses lightly. Appearing for only the fourth time in the company's storied history, it designates the pinnacle of performance. The 2026 Continental Supersports honours this legacy by taking the grand tourer
formula and subjecting it to a rigorous diet and an intense workout. This isn’t just an appearance package; it's a fundamental re-engineering of the Continental GT, designed for the enthusiast who craves a more visceral connection to the road. Limited to just 500 examples worldwide, it’s a rare blend of Bentley's bespoke craftsmanship and a newfound obsession with lightweight, track-ready dynamics.
The Carbon Fibre Diet
The most significant story of the new Supersports is its aggressive weight loss. Engineers at Crewe have managed to shed nearly half a tonne compared to the standard model, creating the lightest Bentley in 85 years. The key to this transformation is the extensive use of carbon fibre. A carbon roof panel lowers the car's centre of gravity, while a suite of aggressive aerodynamic components—including the largest front splitter ever fitted to a Bentley road car, a fixed rear wing, and a prominent rear diffuser—are all fashioned from the lightweight material. These 'carbon touches' are not just for show; they work together to generate significant downforce, keeping the car planted at speed while contributing to its athletic stance.
An Interior Built for Two
Inside, the headline’s promise of 'split leather' comes to life in a cabin that’s been radically redefined. The rear seats have been completely removed, replaced by a beautifully sculpted carbon fibre and leather shell. This transforms the Supersports into a strict two-seater, reinforcing its driver-focused mission. The interior customisation options are where Bentley's Mulliner division truly shines. Buyers can select from monotone, duo-tone, or even new tri-tone colour splits, blending leather, Dinamica suede, and carbon fibre veneers. A recently unveiled 'Design Theme' by Mulliner even offers an asymmetrical layout where the driver's side of the cabin is a different colour from the passenger's, creating a true cockpit feel.
Pure V8 Power
In an era of electrification, the Supersports makes a bold statement by ditching the hybrid system found in other new Continental GTs. Under its long bonnet lies a pure, non-hybrid 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. Tuned to produce around 657 horsepower, it sends all its power exclusively to the rear wheels through a revised eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. This rear-wheel-drive configuration is a first for the modern Continental GT, promising a more playful and engaging driving experience. The soundtrack is equally dramatic, courtesy of a full-length titanium exhaust system developed with Akrapovič, which amplifies the authentic, deep rumble of the V8 engine. The result is a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 3.7 seconds and a top speed of over 300 km/h.
Engineered for the Drive
Every mechanical component has been sharpened to match the car’s aggressive new character. The Supersports features the largest automotive braking system in the world, with massive carbon-silicon-carbide discs to provide immense stopping power. The chassis has been comprehensively reworked with new suspension, a wider rear track, and rear-wheel steering for enhanced agility. It rides on new 22-inch forged lightweight wheels, developed in partnership with Manthey Racing, a name synonymous with high-performance Porsches. While the ride is firmer and more communicative than a standard Bentley, it’s been tuned to retain a degree of long-distance comfort, ensuring it is still a true grand tourer, albeit one with a very sharp edge.
