Indian Railways has inaugurated a new daily express service connecting Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) with Sawantwadi Road in the Sindhudurg district. The inaugural service was flagged off on September 3, 2026, marking a significant
milestone in enhancing the direct rail link between the bustling metropolis and the heart of South Konkan. The service, operating as train numbers 15087 and 15088, covers the 510-kilometre route with modern LHB coaches, offering a mix of AC, sleeper, and general class seating to cater to all types of travellers. This move is designed to ease the pressure on other Konkan-bound trains and provide a reliable daily travel option.
Convenient Overnight Travel
The train's schedule has been planned for passenger convenience. The service from CSMT departs late at night, around 11:55 PM, and arrives at Sawantwadi Road at 2:15 PM the next afternoon. The return journey leaves Sawantwadi Road at 5:20 PM, reaching Mumbai at 6:40 AM the following morning. These timings are ideal for tourists looking to maximize their vacation time and for residents who can travel overnight without losing a workday. The extensive list of stops, including major towns like Panvel, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, and Kankavli, ensures that the train serves a wide passenger base across the Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg districts.
