In a recent interview, Elon Musk projected that artificial intelligence will surpass the collective intelligence of all humans within the next five years. Speaking with The Economist, the tech billionaire stated his belief that this moment, often called
the Singularity, could arrive by 2030 or 2031. This marks a significant shortening of his previous forecasts. Musk's prediction is twofold: he first anticipates AI becoming smarter than any single human by late 2026 or 2027, followed by the leap to surpassing all of humanity a few years later. He couches this forecast with the caveat that progress depends on overcoming hardware and energy constraints, noting that the demand for electricity and specialised computer chips could become a bottleneck.
What Is Superintelligent AI?

The AI we interact with today is known as Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI), which excels at specific tasks like language translation or playing chess but lacks general cognitive ability.
