Skyroot itself was founded in 2018 by Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka, two former ISRO scientists who left secure careers to build their own launch vehicle. They are not alone. Hundreds of scientists and engineers have made similar moves, drawn by the fast-paced environment, greater role exposure, and the potential for significant impact in India's burgeoning private space industry. This is not the 'brain drain' of past decades, where talent left for other countries. Instead, it's a domestic migration of expertise, fueling innovation within India's own borders and building a robust new employment sector.
