The patent, credited to inventor Joerg Kneip, describes a control system for a two-axle off-roader to enter water, maintain stability while floating, and climb back onto shore. While the document doesn't explicitly name the G-Class, its reputation as the brand's premier off-roader makes it the most likely candidate, especially the new electric G 580 with EQ Technology.

The core of the invention involves removable flotation devices, envisioned as either lightweight foam sections or inflatable inserts, that are fitted into the vehicle's wheel arches to provide buoyancy.
