The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has launched a pilot program specifically for the Indian market. This initiative covers the full cost of a UAE entry visa for Indian passport holders who book a qualifying holiday package.
The offer aims to encourage longer stays and make the emirate more accessible. It's a temporary program, running from August 1 to October 31, 2026, and is initially capped at 20,000 visas. This move effectively reduces the upfront travel cost for tourists, saving them approximately AED 285 (around ₹7,400) per person.
Core Eligibility for Indian Travellers
This offer is not open to everyone. To qualify, you must be an Indian passport holder whose journey originates in India. The most crucial element is how you book your trip. Travellers cannot apply for this free visa independently. The booking must be made through a participating travel partner or an approved online travel agency that is part of this specific program. This is a key distinction from standard visa applications, as the travel agency is responsible for facilitating the visa process under this scheme.
The 'Package-Linked' Requirement
The term “package-linked” is central to this offer. To be eligible, your booking must meet two specific conditions. First, it must include a return flight from India. Second, it must include a booking for a minimum of three consecutive nights at a hotel in Abu Dhabi. The initiative is designed to ensure that visitors spend a substantial amount of time exploring the emirate. Any booking that doesn't meet both the flight and hotel-stay criteria will not qualify for the complimentary visa, even if booked through a participating agent.
How the Application Process Works
Since travellers cannot apply on their own, the entire process is handled by the travel partner. These partners have two ways of working with DCT Abu Dhabi. They can either use a DCT-appointed Destination Management Company (DMC), in which case the visa cost is covered directly. Alternatively, they can use their own existing DMC partners and receive a reimbursement of AED 285 from DCT Abu Dhabi for each visa issued. For the traveller, this process is seamless. As long as you book a qualifying package with a participating agent, the visa fee is waived, and the agency manages the paperwork.
Crucial Checks Before You Book
Before you get excited and book the first package you see, there are several important things to verify. First, confirm with the travel agent or online portal that they are an official participating partner in this specific DCT Abu Dhabi program. Ask them directly if your package qualifies for the complimentary visa. Second, get a clear breakdown of the package cost and ensure there are no hidden visa 'processing' or 'service' fees being added back in. The spirit of the offer is a free visa. Finally, remember that this is a pilot program with a cap of 20,000 visas.
