A Blast from the Past
The Laredo name first appeared on the Jeep CJ in the early 1980s, representing a premium trim with a distinct Southwestern flair before migrating to the first-generation Wrangler. Now, after decades on the shelf, it returns with a heavy dose of retro
cool. The most noticeable feature is the bold graphics package, with two-tone brown stripes that run along the hood, fenders, and body sides, evoking the original designs. This heritage look is complemented by a Gobi-colored grille, bronze tow hooks, and bronze badging. Perhaps most exciting for long-time fans is the return of the tan soft-top, a classic feature that solidifies the Laredo’s vintage aesthetic. A playful lasso-style '4WD' decal on the rear completes the throwback look.
More Than Just a Sticker Package
While the graphics are the main attraction, the Laredo is built on the capable Wrangler Willys platform and comes with serious off-road equipment as standard. Every Laredo includes the Xtreme 35 Package, which adds significant hardware for trail performance. This package equips the Wrangler with aggressive 35-inch BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires mounted on 17-inch bronze beadlock-capable wheels. To accommodate the larger tires, the package also includes a factory suspension lift, performance brakes, and a higher rear axle ratio, ensuring the Laredo has the ground clearance and traction to back up its rugged looks. It's a combination that ensures this special edition is not just for show; it's built to perform where the pavement ends.
Cowboy-Chic Cabin and Powertrain
Inside, the Laredo continues its upscale, western-inspired theme. The cabin features premium Bison Brown Nappa leather on the heated front seats, detailed with Mayan Gold contrast stitching. This is offset by black trim on the dashboard and center console for a striking two-tone appearance. Jeep designers also added some playful Easter eggs, including a subtle cowboy hat motif on the HVAC controls and a special plaque on the rear swing gate engraved with the coordinates of Laredo, Texas. Under the hood, the Laredo is powered by the Wrangler's standard 285-horsepower 3.6-liter V-6 engine. The Xtreme 35 package mandates the eight-speed automatic transmission. The Laredo is available in both two-door and four-door configurations.
Pricing and Availability
The Wrangler Laredo is the ninth of twelve special editions in Jeep's 'Twelve 4 Twelve' series, celebrating the brand's 85th anniversary. Jeep has announced that the Laredo package will add $1,995 to the price of a Wrangler Willys equipped with the Xtreme 35 Tire Package. Based on current pricing, this places the estimated starting cost for a two-door Laredo around $53,240 and a four-door near $55,620, though official 2027 model year pricing is still pending. For enthusiasts eager to get their hands on this blend of retro style and modern muscle, the wait won't be long. Order books for the 2027 Jeep Wrangler Laredo are scheduled to open later this month.
