The new rule intends to streamline toll payments, ease traffic, and lessen friction at toll booths around the country. No matter how much toll is charged at each plaza, the pass will be valid for a year or until the vehicle has crossed 200 toll booths.

Mumbai-Nashik, Mumbai-Surat, Mumbai-Ratnagiri, and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway are a few examples.
How to purchase a FASTag annual pass?
Go to the official website of NHAI or download the Rajmarg Yatra mobile app.
Log in using your mobile number.
Enter your vehicle registration and existing FASTag ID.
After successful verification, users must pay the ₹ 3,000 fee online.
Once payment is successful, it will take around two hours to activate.

What to do if you have an existing pass?
You don't need a new FASTag. The annual pass can be linked to your existing FASTag if it is valid, correctly affixed, linked to your Vehicle Registration Number (VRN), and not blacklisted.
FASTag will not work on state highways or municipal toll roads. For example, tolls will be charged normally on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, Mumbai–Nagpur Expressway, Bengaluru–Mysore Expressway, and Agra-Lucknow Expressway.
What happens if 200 crossings are completed or a year has passed?
It automatically switches back to the traditional pay-per-useFASTag once 200 crossings are completed or the one-year validity ends.
