The name Oatzempic is inspired by Ozempic, a prescription medication used to treat Type 2 diabetes that has also gained attention for its weight loss effects. Some have even claimed that having oatzempic can make you lose around 18 kg in just two months.
What is Oatzempic?
Oatzempic is a drink made by blending oats with water and fresh lime juice. Some people add cinnamon or honey to improve the taste. Many claim that drinking Oatzempic daily can help reduce your appetite and support weight loss, similar to how Ozempic works.
As oats are rich in beta-glucan, a type of soluble fibre, they slow down digestion, making you feel full for a longer time.
"When you combine oats with lime, which adds vitamin C and antioxidants, this mix can help with weight management," said Ginni Kalra, head of dietetics at Aakash Healthcare.
How to make Oatzempic?
Take half a cup of rolled oats and soak them in water for 10-15 minutes to make them soft.

Blend the soaked oats with water of plant milk until smooth.
Add lime juice and optional cinnamon or honey. Blend again for a few seconds.
Pour into a glass and drink.
When should you drink Oatzempic?
Dr Kalra said, "Drinking it daily, especially in the morning, can replace a hearty breakfast and give you lasting energy throughout the morning."
How Oatzempic works
Oatzempic is not a medicine like Ozempic. It doesn't change hormones or magically burn fat. Oats are high in fibre, which absorbs water and swells in your stomach, helping you feel full for longer. Because of this, you are less likely to snack or overeat between meals.

How effective is Oatzempic
A study in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition showed that people who ate oat-based breakfasts felt less hungry than those who ate refined cereals. However, experts say that losing weight too quickly may not be healthy or realistic for most people.
"Losing about 1-2 pounds per week. Losing weight too quickly can cause muscle loss, lead to nutritional problems, and harm your metabolism," said Dr Debjani Banerjee, in charge of dietetics at PSRI Hospital. She emphasized having a balanced diet that must include protein, healthy fats, fruits, and vegetables.
Dr Kalra said, "For effective and long-lasting weight management, pair this drink with regular exercise and healthy eating habits."
