What's Happening?
NHMF Frameworx has selected over 40 contractors for new frameworks focused on housing maintenance and retrofit works across England. The frameworks, valued at £3 billion excluding VAT, cover external, internal, and communal refurbishment, as well as net-zero carbon upgrades and passive fire safety installations. Contractors were appointed to five work categories across two frameworks, one for direct awards and the other for mini-competition procurement. Notable firms like Bell Group, Ian Williams, CLC Group, and United Living Property Services secured multiple lot placements, enhancing their prospects for future projects. The frameworks aim to provide social landlords and housing providers with pre-approved contractors for planned works.
Why It's Important?
The appointment of contractors for these frameworks is a significant step towards achieving net-zero carbon goals and enhancing fire safety in housing. The £3 billion investment underscores the importance of sustainable and safe housing solutions, aligning with broader environmental and safety objectives. This development is crucial for the construction industry, as it opens up substantial opportunities for contractors involved in refurbishment and safety upgrades. It also reflects a growing emphasis on sustainability and safety in public policy, potentially influencing future construction standards and practices.
What's Next?
Contractors appointed to the frameworks will begin delivering projects under the new agreements, with social landlords and housing providers expected to initiate planned works. The focus on net-zero carbon and fire safety may lead to increased demand for innovative construction solutions and technologies. Stakeholders will be monitoring the implementation of these frameworks to assess their impact on housing quality and sustainability.
