What's Happening?
Thailand's Creative Economy Agency (CEA) has announced the second edition of its Content Project Market (CPM), scheduled for September 10-12 in Bangkok. This event, part of the Content Lab 2025 initiative, aims to facilitate business matching and showcase Thai content to international markets. The CPM will be held at True Digital Park (East) and will feature project pitching sessions, B2B business matching, networking receptions, and industry forums led by Thai and international guests. Dr. Chakrit Pichyangkul, Executive Director of CEA, emphasized the event's role as a national marketplace for Thai content creators, including filmmakers, screenwriters, and animators, to present their projects to production houses, content investors, distributors, and streaming platforms. Over 70 companies are expected to participate, with confirmed speakers from various international agencies and companies.
Why It's Important?
The Content Project Market is significant as it provides a platform for Thai content creators to connect with international production and distribution channels, potentially elevating Thai content on the global stage. By facilitating these connections, the event supports the growth of Thailand's creative economy and reinforces its image as a burgeoning creative hub. The initiative also aims to build a sustainable ecosystem for content creators, offering opportunities for projects to progress into production. This could lead to increased visibility and commercial success for Thai content, benefiting the local economy and cultural exports.
What's Next?
The CPM will include 54 creative teams, with 34 participating in CEA's Content Lab 2025 project. These teams will engage in pitching sessions across three strands: Mid-Career: Project, Mid-Career: Story, and Mid-Career: Animation. Additionally, 20 professional content teams were selected through an Open Call. The event is expected to foster collaborations and partnerships that could lead to new productions and distribution deals, further integrating Thai content into international markets.
Beyond the Headlines
The CPM not only serves as a business platform but also contributes to the cultural exchange between Thailand and other countries. By showcasing Thai content, the event promotes cultural understanding and appreciation, potentially influencing global perceptions of Thai culture and creativity. This cultural dimension adds value beyond economic benefits, enhancing Thailand's soft power and international cultural presence.
