Mid-Atlantic Interstate Transmission (MAIT), a subsidiary of FirstEnergy, is undertaking a significant infrastructure project in Adams County, Pennsylvania. The project involves the construction of a new substation and a 115-kilovolt transmission line, known as the East Germantown-Germantown Reliability Project. This initiative aims to improve the reliability of electric service for approximately 2,300 residents and businesses, including critical facilities like Hanover Hospital and Alpha Fire Company. The new infrastructure is expected to be operational by March 2026, providing an additional power source and enhancing the grid's operational flexibility.
