Nana Patekar’s son Malhar Patekar has reacted to the renewed remarks surrounding the late actor following his death on October 8. Without naming Tanushree Dutta directly, Malhar said that the case being repeatedly referred to had already reached its legal conclusion and questioned why it was being brought up again.
Nana died of a heart attack in Goa at the age of 75. In the days that followed, Tanushree made a series of remarks questioning the circumstances surrounding his death and revisiting the sexual harassment allegations she had levelled against him years ago.
Malhar Patekar Says ‘Joh Sach Hai Wahi Rahega’
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Malhar addressed the controversy while choosing not to engage directly with the person making the remarks.
“Without naming anyone, I want to say that the case people are bringing up unnecessarily is already over. Judiciary se clear hua hain, case khatam ho chuka; phir bhi bol rahe,” he said.
He added, “Aise logo ko mein unko kuch nahi boluga; joh sach hai wahi rahega, bhagwan unka bhala kare, this is what I have to say to them.”
Tanushree had accused Nana of sexually harassing her during the filming of Horn ‘Ok’ Pleassss. In June 2019, Mumbai Police submitted a closure report in court, saying they had found insufficient evidence to prosecute Nana or substantiate the allegations. The legal dispute was effectively closed in 2025.
Tanushree Dutta Questioned Circumstances Around Nana’s Death
Following reports of Nana’s death, Tanushree made several statements questioning what had happened.
She raised questions about why no prayer meeting had been organised and why members of the film industry and media had not, according to her, been given an opportunity to pay their last respects.
Tanushree also alleged that Nana had staged his death to avoid legal proceedings. She went further and suggested that a DNA test could be conducted if he had changed his appearance.
There is no evidence in the material provided to substantiate those allegations.
Tanushree Defends Her ‘Evil Dead’ Comment
Tanushree also faced criticism for an earlier remark in which she referred to Nana as “evil dead”.
Responding to the backlash, she shared a video defending her reaction and argued that his death did not erase what she alleged had happened in the past.
She described Nana as “a sadistic, sick psychopath” and called his death “nothing short of a miracle”. She also said she felt that the suffering she associated with him had finally ended.
Her comments drew sharp reactions after Nana’s death, particularly because they came so soon after the news broke.
Malhar’s response has now added a direct reaction from Nana’s family, though he avoided naming Tanushree and kept his statement focused on the legal status of the old case.
Nana’s last rites were performed with full state honours at his Donje farmhouse in Pune after sunset.
