A tourist from Karnataka lost his life after being swept away by powerful waves while sitting on rocks at Baga Beach in Goa. The deceased, identified as 33-year-old Sahas Ashpak Masali, was from Bijapur district in Karnataka. He was reportedly pulled into the water by strong currents after a series of high waves struck the shoreline.
Despite an extensive search and rescue operation, his body was recovered several hours later. Meanwhile, a video that has captured the tragic incident has gone viral on social media, showing him struggling in turbulent waters as onlookers watch in horror.
In the clip, the 33-year-old man was seen sitting on rocks along the shoreline as rough sea conditions produced powerful waves crashing against the coast. Moments
later, a large wave surged over the rocks, pushing him into the water. He was captured struggling to stay afloat as strong currents pulled him away from the rocks. Despite appearing to make attempts to regain his footing, he was overwhelmed by the force of the waves.
The shocking footage has drawn widespread attention online, with users expressing mixed reactions. While many mourned the loss and offered their condolences to the family of the man, others urged tourists to heed safety warnings and avoid venturing onto rocky coastal stretches, especially during rough sea conditions and the monsoon.

“What Was He Thinking?”
“Lesson for all, jiske dost bolte h chal na thoda aage tak khuch nhi hoga,” said one user.
“Seeing how dumb people are actually in real life, it makes me realise this line ‘common sense is not so common,’” remarked another person.
Someone else shared, “My father taught me not to play with three things in nature: fire, air, and water, because they can suddenly change their behaviour, and by the time you react, it may be too late.”
“Never challenge nature, I repeat, never,” a person said.
“What an idiot. The waves were rising dangerously with the high tide. What was he thinking? All those rocks and strong waves, no way to survive,” commented another.
A different individual shared, “Remember to stay away from the beach during the monsoon. The waves and waters are very choppy, lots of whirlpools too. The waves will snatch you inside.”
