Royal Challengers Bengaluru women’s team head coach Malolan Rangarajan has said that star India allrounder Pooja Vastrakar is nearing full fitness and as per the BCCI, she is expected to be back on the field in two weeks, after being out of action for over a year now.
At the Women’s Premier League 2026 mega auction, Bengaluru and the UP Warriorz bid for Vastrakar. RCB eventually picked her for Rs 85 lakh.
Vastrakar earlier missed the World Premier League 2025 due to a stress injury.
“Pooja Vastrakar is currently undergoing rehab at the Centre of Excellence, but we have information from BCCI that she might get fully fit in the next couple of weeks,” Rangarajan said while speaking to the host broadcasters.
The fourth season of the Women’s Premier
League is all set to start on January 5 and if Vastrakar is fit by December 11, she will have less than a month to prepare for the WPL.
“From everything we know, she has been working incredibly hard and has earned her way back to fitness. She is on track to be ready for the WPL. Yes, she has not played much cricket recently, so she will need a bit of time to get fully up to speed, but we would not have picked her if we did not believe she would be fit and ready to contribute throughout the tournament,” RCB bowling coach Anya Shrubsole said while speaking to the media after the mega auction.
Vastrakar’s last international appearance came against Australia at the T20 World Cup last year and she wasn’t part of India’s ODI World Cup-winning team in 2025.
In the Women’s Premier League, Vastrakar turned out for the Mumbai Indians in the first two editions, featuring in their championship-winning campaign. Across 16 games, she tallied 126 runs and claimed seven wickets.
