Mumbai Police have issued a traffic advisory ahead of football icon Lionel Messi’s much-anticipated GOAT India Tour 2025 event in the city, warning of congestion and announcing temporary restrictions in several
areas to ensure smooth movement and public safety.
According to the advisory large crowd with their vehicles is expected to attend the event scheduled at the Wankhede Stadium and Brabourne Stadium on Sunday, December 14.
To facilitate commuters and avoid inconvenience to the public, traffic arrangements have been revised by Prashant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), Traffic, Brihanmumbai, under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
According to the advisory, there will be no parking facilities at the Wankhede and Brabourne Stadiums. Spectators are advised to use public transport services such as local trains, BEST bus and Mumbai Metro. The traffic diversion and restrictions will be imposed from 12 pm to 11 pm on Sunday, December 14.
Parking Restrictions
- Temporary parking restrictions will be enforced on several key roads including, “C Road, “D Road, “E Road, “F Road, and “G Road.
- N.S. Road (both north and south bound), Veer Nariman Road, Dinshaw Vachha Road, and Jamshethji Tata Road.
- Pay-and-park facilities will be temporarily suspended on Veer Nariman Road and Dinshaw Vachha Road.
Diversions
- ‘D’ Road shall be one way (from West to East) for vehicular traffic from its junction at N.S. Road (Marine Drive) & towards the junction of “E” & “C” Road.
- “E” Road shall be One Way (South Bound) for all types of vehicular traffic from the junction of ‘D’ Road towards its junction of ‘C’ Road.3.
- Veer Nariman Road (South Bound) from Churchgate Junction to E Road, which is а restricted access Road, will remain open for vehicular traffic.
Road Closures And Alternative Routes
Several key routes will be temporarily closed to traffic, including Chandra Bose Road from Netaji Subhash Air India Junction to Mafatlal Junction (northbound), the Coastal Road from Worli/Tardeo to Marine Drive (southbound), and the Coastal Road from Marine Drive to Worli/Tardeo (northbound).
To ease movement, police have announced alternative routes for commuters, covering major junctions such as Ramnath Poddar Chowk, Maharshi Karve Road, Opera House, Charni Road and Marine Lines.
Pay And Park
Limited parking facilities have been arranged near Churchgate Station, including space for 60 vehicles on H.T. Parekh Marg, 290 on Dorabaji Tata Road, 169 on Jamanalal Bajaj Marg and 250 at Vidhan Bhavan (MMRDA).
Additional smaller parking lots will also be available along NCPA Marg, Vinay K. Shah Marg and Hornimal Circle.
