Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra’s love story needs no introduction. The duo met each other for the first time on the sets of Karan Johar’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998). Sixteen years later, they tied the knot in Italy, leaving many surprised and delighted at the same time. As Rani appeared on Kapil Sharma’s show, the comedian asked her to spill the beans about Aditya’s proposal.
As per a recent promo, Kapil Sharma asked Rani about how Aditya, who taught romance to a generation via his movies, proposed to the actress. Rani replied, “Yeh sab cheezein TV ke liye thode na hain.” Kapil teased her that he wasn’t asking about specifics, only things that she could tell on TV. Rani smiled and refused to talk about how Aditya proposed to her.
Both Rani and
Aditya have kept their relationship very private. From their 2014 wedding to their family life, not much is known to the world. However, Rani has always spoken fondly about her husband in interviews. She has praised Aditya for being a grounded, humble man without an ego.
Speaking to Galatta India, she once said, “I think he’s a really good human being, and to me, that was the clincher. I’ve grown up in a household with my parents, and I’ve valued the kind of people that they were. In my life, it’s very important to have good people around, because I need to respect people. That’s very important to me. What I saw in Adi was a very, very gracious human being, a good person, and a great leader for his team.”
She continued, “He’s very fair, not in terms of his colour, but in terms of his morals and his judgment. You might fall out of love or lose that initial attraction, but you’ll never lose the respect you have for a person. For me, that’s very important. If I want to be close to someone, I need to respect them. I’ve seen the world very closely, I’ve worked in this industry for so many years… So, if it had to be an industry person, it could not be anybody but Adi.”
Rani and Aditya tied the knot in 2014 and are parents to one daughter, Adira.
