The second youth ODI of the ongoing three-match series between the India U19 and South Africa U19 teams will be played on Monday (January 5) at Willowmoore Park in Benoni. India, under the leadership of 14-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, won the series opener played at the same venue on Saturday (January 3) by 25 runs, and on Monday, the visitors would like to get the better of the hosts once again to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
In the series opener, Sooryavanshi could only manage to score 11 runs from 12 balls, but on Monday, the left-handed batter from Samastipur in Bihar will look to score a daddy hundred.
Apart from him, there will be high expectations from the likes of Abhigyan Kundu, who slammed a double century in the U19
Asia Cup match against Malaysia last month, and Harvansh Pangalia, who made 93 runs against South Africa U19 in the first youth ODI a couple of days back.
On the other hand, South Africa will also aim to make a comeback in the series on Monday. The hosts will take the field in Benoni on Monday under the leadership of Muhammed Bulbulia, who is the son of former South African skipper and legendary opener Hashim Amla.
In addition to Bulbulia, South Africa also have the likes of Jorich Van Schalkwyk in their squad. Jorich Van Schalkwyk is the first and only batter in the world to score a double century in youth ODIs.
