More than a decade after The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 marked the end of a cultural phenomenon, fans are once again wondering whether Robert Pattinson would ever return to the role that made him a global heartthrob.
Pattinson played Edward Cullen, the immortal vampire in an eternal romance with Bella Swan, for five films between 2008 and 2012. Now, the actor has hinted that he might not be entirely done with the character.
While promoting director Lynne Ramsay’s upcoming film Die My Love, in which he stars alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Pattinson participated in Vanity Fair’s lie detector segment. During the playful interview, Lawrence asked him if he would be willing to reprise his role as Edward Cullen. Pattinson replied without hesitation:
“Oh yeah, definitely.”
Lawrence, appearing surprised, cautioned him that he probably shouldn’t return to his Twilight character. Pattinson laughed and added, “It would be fantastic. I enjoy taking roles from younger actors. I want to be 17 again.” Though his tone suggested humor, the polygraph examiner confirmed he was telling the truth.
His comments have sparked excitement across the Twilight fan base, who have long speculated about a revival.
Is a Twilight comeback actually possible?
At present, there are no confirmed plans for a continuation of the film franchise. However, author Stephenie Meyer has published Midnight Sun, a retelling of the original Twilight novel from Edward’s perspective. The release reignited discussions about exploring Cullen’s inner world on screen.
Still, even if a new Twilight project were announced, Pattinson’s availability remains a substantial challenge. The actor’s upcoming slate is among the busiest in Hollywood. In 2026 alone, he will appear in three films, all featuring Zendaya: The Drama (April 2026), Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey (July 2026) alongside Matt Damon and Tom Holland,
and Dune 3 (December 2026).
Beyond those, Pattinson is set to return as Bruce Wayne in The Batman Part II, scheduled for release on October 1, 2027.
While Pattinson has expressed genuine fondness for Edward Cullen, whether the world will see him return to Forks, Washington remains uncertain. For now, the actor seems content to keep the possibility alive, offering fans just enough hope to keep the conversation burning.
