The 13th edition of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup gets underway on September 30, with India and Sri Lanka jointly hosting the marquee event. The tournament packs in 31 clashes across 34 action-filled days.

India is hosting the Women’s ODI World Cup for the fourth occasion, having previously done so in 1978, 1997 and 2013. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka is playing host for the very first time.
An all-women panel of match officials has been appointed to oversee the tournament. The prize pool has escalated sharply to $13.88 million (about Rs 123.1 crore), representing nearly a four-fold increase from the previous tournament in 2022.
Starting with the opening clash between India and Sri Lanka on September 30 and continuing until the final on November 2, the ICC has partnered with top-tier broadcasters worldwide to bring fans comprehensive live coverage of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.
The tournament features eight teams, with India securing qualification automatically as hosts. They are joined by the top five teams from the Women’s Championship cycle: Australia, New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka and South Africa.
Six teams, namely Bangladesh, Ireland, Pakistan, West Indies, Thailand and Scotland, competed in the World Cup Qualifier held in Lahore. Pakistan and Bangladesh emerged victorious, securing the final two spots in the tournament.
