Ranbir Kapoor SHUTS Down Dhoom 4 Casting Rumours: 'No, Right Now I Am Working On...'

Ranbir Kapoor has finally addressed the long-running speculation linking him to Dhoom 4. The actor, whose name has repeatedly surfaced as a possible new face of Yash Raj Films’ action franchise, has clarified that the project is not part of his confirmed line-up.

The statement came during Ranbir’s appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, where he was promoting Ramayana with director Nitesh Tiwari, producer Namit Malhotra and co-star Yash.

Ranbir Kapoor Corrects Dhoom 4 Claim

During an interview with Review Nation on the sidelines of the event, the host spoke about the upcoming films of both Ranbir and Yash. While Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups was mentioned alongside Ramayana, the host referred to Dhoom 4 as one of Ranbir’s next projects.

immediately corrected the claim and named only two films from his current slate.

“No, right now I am working on Ramayana and another film called Love & War. Which is directed by Mr Sanjay Bhansali. That should be out on January 24 next year,” he said.

His response appears to shut down reports that he has already signed the fourth instalment of the Dhoom franchise. Yash Raj Films has also not made any official announcement about the film, its director or its cast.

Ranbir notably did not mention Animal Park, the planned sequel to Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s 2023 blockbuster Animal, while discussing his immediate releases.

How The Ranbir Kapoor-Dhoom 4 Rumours Began

Reports about Ranbir joining Dhoom 4 have circulated for several years. In 2024, a Pinkvilla report claimed that producer Aditya Chopra considered him the ideal actor to take the franchise forward and that preliminary discussions had taken place.

Around the same period, hairstylist Aalim Hakim shared photographs of Ranbir sporting a new look. The images triggered speculation that the transformation was either for Dhoom 4 or Animal Park.

The rumours gathered further momentum in 2025 after another report suggested that Vicky Kaushal could also be associated with the film. None of these casting claims has been confirmed by Yash Raj Films.

Dhoom Franchise Has Been Dormant Since 2013

The franchise began with Dhoom in 2004, starring Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and John Abraham. Its success led to Dhoom 2 in 2006, with Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai joining the cast.

The most recent instalment, Dhoom 3, released in 2013 and starred Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif. Despite continued audience interest, the studio has yet to formally announce another chapter.

For now, Ranbir’s confirmed focus remains on Ramayana and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War.
