New Delhi, Jul 28 (PTI) A male chinkara at Delhi’s National Zoological Park sustained injuries, including a broken horn, after an incident inside its enclosure and is currently being treated at the zoo’s veterinary hospital, a zoo source said.
According to the source, the incident occurred around two days ago in Beat No. 15, where eight chinkaras — two adult pairs and four grown offspring are housed.
He said building repair work was underway near the enclosure and cement bags had been kept in the vicinity.
One of the cement bags got entangled in the animal’s horn, causing it to panic and run around the enclosure for some time, he said, adding that during the incident, the chinkara suffered multiple injuries, including a broken horn and fractures.
The source further said no animal keeper was present in the enclosure area at the time of the incident.
Zoo authorities have not responded to the allegation so far. PTI SHB NB NB
