The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced its Rs. 51 crore cash prize for the Indian team that won the 2025 Women’s World Cup by beating South Africa in the final at the DY Patil Cricket Stadium on Sunday. In a long press release, the BCCI said the prize money will be distributed among the players, support staff, and selectors to celebrate their historic maiden triumph on the world stage.
Describing the win as a watershed moment for Indian cricket, the board said it reflects years of investment in facilities, coaching, and player development. It added that under former BCCI secretary and current ICC chairman Jay Shah’s leadership, women’s cricket has witnessed strong structural and financial growth. The board reaffirmed
its commitment to expanding the women’s game and inspiring the next generation of cricketers nationwide.
“On behalf of the Board, I congratulate the Indian women’s cricket team on this historic world-championship victory,” board president Mithun Manhas said in a statement, his first in public since the win. “The team’s resilience, talent, and togetherness have lifted our nation’s hopes. This triumph vindicates the investment and faith the BCCI placed in building a world-class women’s programme,” he added.
Board secretary Devajit Saikia said: This phenomenal achievement is the result of relentless preparation, flawless execution and the unshakable belief of our women cricketers. The coaching staff, support personnel and every state association have played a role. Congratulations to each and every member of the team. This team has made the entire cricket fraternity proud.”
Board vice-president, Rajeev Shukla added: “The journey to this summit was paved with many small steps — enhanced domestic tournaments, better facilities, equal opportunities. Today’s victory shows that when we align vision with action, greatness follows. Congratulations to our champions, and thank you to everyone who stood behind them.”
Treasurer A. Raghuram Bhat said India’s World Cup win marks a defining moment for women’s cricket, praising the team’s unity, character, and growth, while joint secretary Prabhtej Singh Bhatia added that the triumph begins a new era, reaffirming the board’s commitment to support and celebrate women’s cricket nationwide.
