A threatening email received on the official email account of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Mayor prompted a security response from Delhi Police on Thursday, officials said.
The email warned of possible explosions at certain locations across Delhi and nearby areas, leading authorities to take immediate precautionary measures.
Police personnel, assisted by the Bomb Disposal Squad and Dog Squad, carried out detailed anti-sabotage checks at the civic centre housing the Mayor’s office. The search operation covered the entire premises, including office spaces, common areas and parking zones.
After a thorough inspection, officials found no suspicious items or explosives. The building was subsequently declared safe.
As a precaution, security
has been tightened at the civic centre and staff have been instructed to maintain a high level of alertness.
Meanwhile, investigators are examining the email and conducting technical analysis to identify its source and trace the sender.
According to officials, initial findings suggest that the message may have been a hoax intended to cause fear and disruption. However, the matter remains under investigation.
