Sunrisers Hyderabad romped to a 55-run triumph over Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Friday in the IPL 2026 group stage encounter between the sides.
SRH posted a massive 256 runs target riding on half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, and Heinrich Klaasen before limiting RCB to 200 as Rajat Patidar’s fifty went in vain.
Sunrisers won the toss and opted to bat as Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head started the innings off quick per usual as they noticed on 45 runs on the board for the first wicket in just 4 overs before the Aussie was sent back to the hut by Rashik Salam for 26 off 16 deliveries.
Ishan Kishan came out to replace the fallen opener and added a 52-run stand for the second wicket alongside
Abhishek, who completed his fifty, before departing to Suyash Sharma for 56 off 22.
Kishan combined even more emphatically with Heinrich Klaasen as the duo notched up 113 runs with both batters bringing up half-centuries. The Protea batter was thwarted by Krunal Pandya after he had added 51 runs off just 24 deliveries.
Kishan went on to remain unbeaten on 79 runs off just 46 balls, with Nitish Kumar Reddy for company on 29 off 12, to help SRH to the total of 255 runs in 20 overs.
RCB openers Virat Kohli and Venkatesh Iyer started the mammoth chase in quick-fire stand of 60 runs with the latter the main aggressor. Iyer was removed for 44 runs by Eshan Malinga, before Kohli was scalped by Shakib Hussain for 15 runs off 11 balls. Devdutt Padikkal added 21 runs from 14 deliveries before Malinga doubled.
RCB Rajat Patidar and Krunal Pandya steadied the pursuit as the skipper made a half-century while the southpaw added 41 runs. Patidar was removed by Travis Head for 56 off 39 balls and Tim David remained unbeaten on 15 runs alongside Pandya as RCB posted a total of 200, but ended up short by 55 runs on the day.
