Emily Cooper isn’t done juggling romance, work and couture just yet. Netflix has confirmed that Emily in Paris has officially been renewed for Season 6. It gives Lily Collins another chapter as the endlessly
optimistic American marketer navigating life, love, and ambition in Europe. The renewal lands soon after Season 5’s strong debut, and series creator Darren Star is already thinking ahead.
Speaking at a press conference in December, Star teased the show’s direction while staying rooted in its identity. “There’s a lot of places I’d love to visit. But I think the show organically follows the storyline. The show is Emily in Paris. It’s never going to permanently leave its home base. But if I can take the audience on a journey somewhere else, I would love that it’s fun to think about,” he said.
Season 5 Proved The Show Still Has Momentum
Season 5 followed Emily to Rome, where business and pleasure collided once again. Tasked with launching an Agence Grateau office in Italy, Emily found herself balancing work pressure with a new romance. Enter Marcello Muratori, played by Eugenio Franceschini, a luxury fashion heir who complicated Emily’s already messy emotional life.
The season leaned into contrasts. Rome brought excitement and possibility, but Paris continued to pull at Emily’s sense of identity. That tension sat at the heart of the story, and viewers clearly responded. as per netflix, season 5 pulled in 26.8 million views globally within 11 days, ranking as the No. 1 TV series in 24 countries, including France, Italy, Brazil, and Germany. It also cracked the Top 10 in 91 countries overall.
The show’s popularity hasn’t gone unnoticed. Darren Star was recently awarded France’s highest civilian honour, the chevalier de la Légion d’honneur, a rare nod for an American TV creator.
Where Things Stand Before Season 6
Season 5 wrapped with major decisions and unresolved feelings. In Venice, Marcello’s solo fashion debut impressed even his toughest critic, his mother Antonia, played by Anna Galiena. He was offered full control of his family’s historic cashmere business and invited Emily to join him. She said no. Paris, and her career there, mattered more.
Their breakup marked the second time things fell apart, while Emily’s best friend, Mindy Chen, played by Ashley Park, moved in the opposite direction. Her on-again, off-again partner Nicolas de Léon (Paul Forman) proposed, and Mindy accepted. That engagement, however, didn’t sit well with Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), who bluntly called it a “big mistake.”
And then there’s Gabriel. Emily’s ex floated the possibility of another shake-up while vacationing in Greece, inviting Emily onto his boss’s yacht after hearing about her split. Whether she ever receives his postcard – or takes the trip – remains an open question.
Season 6 is expected to arrive sometime in 2026. Paris is still home. But if history is any guide, Emily’s journey is far from predictable.
