Mumbai To Delhi Shift Helps Bachelor Save Rs 75,000 Per Month, Internet Says ‘Diwali Ka Wait Karte Hai’A man grabbed attention after pointing out the lifestyle upgrade he experienced post shifting to Delhi. A bachelor who traded Mumbai’s local trains for Delhi’s metros shocked the internet by sharing the huge amount of money he is able to save after the transition.
The man shared a post on Reddit comparing life in Delhi and Mumbai, which has prompted a discussion on living in Tier-1 cities in India.
‘Massive Lifestyle Upgrade’ After Shifting To Delhi
The individual captioned his post, “Massive lifestyle upgrade after shifting to Delhi from Mumbai, which I did not expect.” The user went on to explain, “I recently shifted from Mumbai to Delhi NCR,
and the difference in lifestyle has honestly surprised me. I’m a bachelor earning around Rs 1.4L per month.”
The user mentioned that he was living in a “decent 1BHK” in Mumbai and paying close to Rs 40,000 only in rent. “It was fine, but it never really felt like I was living comfortably for what I was paying,” the Redditor explained.
The user went on to say that he is living a “much better lifestyle” in Delhi-NCR than in Mumbai and is still saving “significantly more money”.
Talking about his experience in Delhi, the individual noted, “The roads are wider, and commuting feels easier, and even daily expenses like house help and healthcare are more affordable. In Mumbai I was saving around Rs 40–50K a month, but here I’m able to save around Rs 75K while living more comfortably. Metro is also significantly better and can take me anywhere in Delhi.”
The man concluded the post by sharing, “Overall, the move has genuinely improved both my lifestyle and savings. Curious if others who’ve moved from Mumbai to Delhi NCR feel the same.”

How Did The Internet React?
The post struck a chord online, especially among young professionals who have moved cities for jobs. “Once you get used to the Delhi space, you wouldn’t want to live in Mumbai,” one user wrote, to which the individual responded, “Yes, I completely agree. After living in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai rents are unbelievable, especially for how small they are. I am currently living in a 1 RK, which is probably double the size of my Mumbai 1 BHK and costs 20K less.”
“Mumbai is overhyped by people who have generational wealth and get Rs 1 lakh as pocket money from home despite earning,” another commented.
While most of them agreed with the post, others pointed out issues in Delhi like pollution, safety, and distance.
“Delhi has a pollution issue for a specific duration; apart from that, everything is quite reasonable,” someone else wrote.
“If safety and pollution are taken care of, then there will be no city like Delhi,” another added.
An individual asked, “But does the poor air quality for 3-4 months during a year make all of this worth it?”
“Wait until you see Hyderabad. You would never move to another city,” another comment read.
The post sparked a debate on how cost of living differs across Indian cities, with each location having its pros and cons. What are your thoughts on the matter?
