It’s home sweet home for a national hero in Mumbai, as Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav was given a hero’s welcome back to his city, after sealing India’s ninth Asia Cup triumph last night in Dubai.
India put away a pesky Pakistan side in the final over of a thrilling chase to secure a five-wicket win and bring home the glory yet again.
Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Airport was chock full of fans galore, who had gathered in numbers to welcome back their Asia Cup-winning captain and hometown favourite.

Many would have expected the skipper to come back home with the trophy, but alas, given how the controversial post-match trophy presentation unfolded, they had to make do with none this time around.
Suryakumar,
who led the side to a thumping victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup, also received a grand welcome at his residence in Deonar.
Former MP and Shiv Sena (Shinde camp) leader Rahul Ramesh Shewale, along with society members and local residents, felicitated him with a shawl, garland, and the national flag. Traditional rituals, including aarti, were also performed.
Later, Suryakumar sought blessings from Goddess Durga at Shewale’s residence and posed for photos with fans.
Earlier, in yet another touching gesture, Suryakumar extended his support to the Indian Armed Forces and the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack by declaring all his match fees from the Asia Cup 2025 will be donated to them.
“I have decided to donate my match fees from this tournament to support our Armed Forces and the families of the victims who suffered from the Pahalgam terror attack. You always remain in my thoughts,” Suryakumar wrote on X.
When asked about his decision to donate his match fees, Surya, in an interview with RevSportz, stated, “The thought came all of a sudden when I was giving this whole series of events that happened throughout the course of this tournament a thought.”
“I was having my food in the dressing room, and it was very peaceful out there, so this was the thought that came to my mind. ‘What more can I do about the things that are in my control?’
“When I took a stand after the first game, similar thoughts were already there in my mind, so I just acted upon them when I could,” SKY concluded.
