Pakur, Aug 12 (PTI) Police nabbed a man for allegedly killing his two-month-old son after a heated family argument in Jharkhand’s Pakur district, an officer said on Wednesday.
Pakur Mufassil Police Station officer in charge, Gaurav Kumar, told reporters on Wednesday that Sarjan Sheikh, a native of Sangrampur, had gone to Chennai a year ago to work as a manual labourer and developed an affair with a woman from Guwahati, Assam, without the knowledge of his first wife residing in Pakur.
“Sarjan returned a few months back to Pakur with his second wife and started staying in another house. Recently, Sarjan again contacted his first wife, and this led to a dispute within his family,” police said.
On Tuesday night, villagers were awakened by the scream
from Sarjan’s house and found the two-month-old son of his second wife was dead and had marks on his neck.
“Villagers alleged that the boy had been strangled to death by his father after a tiff with his first wife. We have arrested Sarjan and sent the body of the child for post-mortem. We are investigating the case to find the involvement of the first wife in the incident,” the police officer said. PTI ANB RG
