The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is set to host another exciting game from Group C at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Sunday, February 15. Former champions the West Indies will be taking on one of the world’s leading associate sides, Nepal, in what promises to be an interesting clash. The fixture carries great significance for both teams as the West Indies seek their third consecutive triumph to progress through to the Super 8s round. For Nepal, it’s a do-or-die encounter after having missed out on a major victory over England and losing badly to Italy.
The West Indies announced their arrival for the tournament with a pair of terrific wins over Scotland and England. Shai Hope’s men packed a collective punch not only versus the inexperienced
Scottish side but also proved a handful for the more-fancied Englishmen. That win would’ve especially delighted captain Shai Hope and head coach Darren Sammy. The Calypso Kings posted a huge score of 196/6 in their 20 overs, with power hitter Sherfane Rutherford smashing an unbeaten 76. Later on, the trio of Gudakesh Motie (3/33), Roston Chase (2/29) and Akeal Hosein (1/32) brought about England’s downfall, dismissing them for 166.
For Nepal, the defeat to the Italians would’ve been a cause of pain and angst in the camp as they lost by 10 wickets after a disappointing batting performance. Rohit Paudel’s side got bundled out for just 123, with 27 from Aarif Sheikh ending as their highest individual score. With no runs to play with, the bowlers fought a losing battle later on as Nepal were completely stunned by Italy’s Mosca duo of Justin and Anthony.
While on current form, the West Indies start as favourites, Nepal can take a lot of belief and confidence from their historic T20I series win over the Caribbean side last year.
