Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 28 (PTI) Two textile shops were completely gutted and several other shops damaged in a major fire at Nedumangad here on Monday, Fire and Rescue Services officials said.
The fire broke out at Kulavikonam near Nedumangad in the evening, completely gutting the shops while spreading to a jewellery shop and a mobile phone store nearby, officials said.
Employees of the shops immediately evacuated after noticing the fire, and no casualties were reported, they said.
Fire and Rescue Services personnel rushed to the spot and launched an operation to douse the blaze.
Three fire tenders were deployed, and it took around two hours to bring the fire under control.
