Harmanpreet Kaur-led Team India will look to extend their lead in the ongoing T20I series against Sri Lanka as the two teams lock horns in the 4th fixture on Sunday in Thiruvananthapuram. Team India has
taken a 3-0 unassailable lead, and before the action unfolded at the Greenfield Stadium on December 28, it was learned that star batter Jemimah Rodrigues wasn’t picked in the playing XI.
Rodrigues couldn’t make it to the 4th T20I due to an illness, captain Kaur informed while speaking at the toss on Sunday. The Mumbai batter has been replaced by Harleen Deol, while in another change, Arundhati Reddy came in place of Kranti Gaud, who has been rested.
“Jemi is not playing because of illness. Kranti is rested. Harleen is back, Arundhati is back,” the Indian skipper said.
“This is an ideal series for us where we can test all the players and give them the right platform. I’m really happy everyone is coming up and giving their best. In this series, we are batting first for the first time, so I’m not going to set any target in mind today. Hopefully, we’ll put up a good total on the board,” she added.
Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bowl first in the 4th T20I, aiming to bounce back in the series.
“We’ll bowl first. We batted first in the last three matches. Chasing will be a little bit easier with the dew coming in. We have to play our best cricket. 140 will be a good score to chase. We have made two changes. Inoka and Malki Madara are rested today. Kawya Kavindi and Rashmika Sewwandi come in,” said Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu at the toss.
