Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on Saturday pulled up state government officials over the slow pace of development work in her Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh, during a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting.
The BJP MP questioned officials over the alleged underutilisation of funds available under the MPLADS. In a video circulating on X, she claimed that crores of rupees were available under her MP fund, but only half the amount had been utilised.

“Don’t give me these useless
jumlas (fake promises). I’m getting them at every Disha Committee meeting,” Ranaut told officials.
She sought an expenditure report from Block Development Officers (BDOs), saying officials had earlier assured her that there were no obstacles and that nearly 90 per cent of the funds had already been spent.
“Get the bloody job done now. The time for ‘addressing’ things is gone. Those are two-year-old matters. Those are one-and-a-half to two-year-old matters. Now get the job done and report to me that this is done! Kangana allocated Rs 11 crore, yet not a single piece of work was carried out. It is so incompetent, so wretched,” she added.
Ranaut alleged that the expenditure figures presented during meetings did not match the actual spending. She also cited alleged agency findings claiming that 30-40 per cent of MPLADS funds had been given to fraudulent beneficiaries and could not be recovered.
The actor-turned-politician said she was being ridiculed in the national media over her performance as an MP, sarcastically remarking, “The officials are even better at acting than me.”
She also alleged that residents were regularly posting reels highlighting stalled projects in Mandi, while officials were laughing and “cursing” her in their offices.
Ranaut instructed officials to complete pending projects without further delay and ensure proper utilisation of the available MPLADS funds.
