Jaya Bachchan often faces negativity on social media for her viral videos with the paparazzi. The veteran actress has often stated that she does not like cameras following her and intruding on her personal
space. However, Karan Johar recently came out in support of Jaya Bachchan and urged paparazzi to understand that even she has a ‘very warm’ heart.
During the Filmfare Awards, recently held in Ahmedabad, Karan Johar invited Jaya Bachchan on stage to present an award, saying, “Let’s give a huge round of applause and welcome to the one and only Jaya Bachchan Aunty.”
“I am sorry we are doing this stupidity, but we consider you as our mother. This whole thing, Shah Rukh and I have taken it upon ourselves to give you the award. We feel very happy, more than you. God bless you, and thank you so much,” the filmmaker stated and then added, “I have the right to call her Aunty J. She is like a mother to me. She has known me since childhood. I have had the amazing fortune of even directing Aunty Jaya. Her legacy precedes us. But more than anything else, it’s a warm heart, and everyone should know that, especially the paparazzi.” Karan Johar’s words left Jaya Bachchan burst into laughter.
For the unversed, Jaya Bachchan is often seen scolding paparazzi and getting into arguments with them. Previously, the actress attended Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla’s fashion event in Mumbai when she addressed the long-standing tension between her and the paparazzi. “Abhi kya hai, jab aisa hota hai na,” she said, referring to the orderly media setup at the event, “toh main photo dene ke liye tyaar rehti hoon. Lekin jab personal kuch hota hai, aap log chori-chupe photos lete hai mujhe acha nahi lagta.”
Jaya Bachchan’s Latest Project
The veteran actress was last seen in Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles, the family entertainer brought together an impressive cast, including veterans like Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, and Tota Roy Chowdhury. The movie also had special cameo appearances by Varun Dhawan, Ananya Panday, Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan. In the film, Jaya essays the role of Ranveer Singh’s grandmother and the angry matriarch of the Randhawa household.
Next, she’s set to appear in the romantic drama Dil Ka Darwaza Khol Na Darling. Directed by Vikas Bahl and produced by Ramesh Taurani, the film will star Wamiqa Gabbi and Sidhant Chaturvedi alongside Jaya in a prominent role.
