2022 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Lovepreet Singh lifted a combined 388kg on Thursday (July 30) to win the silver medal for India in the men’s +110kg weightlifting event at the Commonwealth Games 2026.

The 28-year-old from Amritsar lifted 168kg, 173kg and 176kg in his three snatch attempts before clearing 205kg and 212kg in the first two clean and jerk attempts to clinch the title.
New Zealand’s David Andrew Liti claimed the gold medal after lifting a total of 389kg.
He lifted 166kg in his second snatch attempt and successfully cleared 223 kg in his second clean and jerk attempt to finish ahead of Lovepreet.
Lovepreet had set a new Commonwealth Games record by lifting 176kg in his third
snatch attempt but narrowly missed out on the gold.
His silver finish was eighth overall medal in weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games 2026.
Saikhom Mirabai Chanu is the only weightlifter to win a gold medal for India in the ongoing games. The Manipur-born athlete won yellow metal in the women’s 48kg category on Sunday (July 26).
Lovepreet’s podium finish was India’s 16th medal in the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2026.

Before Lovepreet’s silver medal, Martina Rani Maibam represented India in the women’s +86kg weightlifting event but failed to secure a podium finish.
The 18-year-old lifted 105kg in the snatch and 140kg in the clean and jerk, recording a total of 245kg, which was not enough to finish in the top three.
