A video showing US President Donald Trump swaying and briefly closing his eyes during a Memorial Day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery has gone viral online, triggering fresh debate over his health ahead of his 80th birthday next month.
The footage, widely shared on social media platform X, showed Trump rocking back and forth while standing alongside Vice President JD Vance and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth during the playing of “Taps” after a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Monday.
The 79-year-old president’s movements quickly drew reactions online, with users questioning his physical condition.

Video sparks online reaction
Several users on X claimed Trump appeared unsteady during the ceremony. “Trump is so unwell just look at him!! He also could not even stand still for the solute—he was wobbling back and forth like he was going to fall down!!,” one user wrote.
Another user commented, “Trump is noticeably swaying and wobbly on his feet. If he closed his eyes, he’d fall and be on the ground. He’s more ill than what the MSM has reported.”
Others responded with jokes and sarcasm, with one user writing: “Did someone slip him some enriched uranium dust?”
“He’s swaying more than the flags,” another user remarked.
The clip spread rapidly online and renewed scrutiny over Trump’s health and the White House’s handling of medical transparency. Trump has repeatedly defended his physical and mental fitness, often comparing himself favourably with former president Joe Biden.
Medical check-up follows
The viral footage surfaced just a day before Trump underwent a routine medical examination at Walter Reed Military Medical Center near Washington. After the check-up on Tuesday, Trump dismissed concerns and said the examination had gone “perfectly”.
“Everything checked out PERFECTLY,” he wrote on Truth Social while returning to the White House.
The medical visit was Trump’s third physical examination since returning to office last year. It also comes amid growing speculation surrounding visible bruising on his hand and apparent sleepiness during meetings and public appearances.
Trump, who turns 80 on June 14, remains the oldest president ever sworn into office in the United States.
