A massive anti-terror operation has been launched by Jammu Police in the Samah area of Jammu. The development comes as the security forces are on alert ahead of the Republic Day celebrations on January
26.
According to the sources, the operation was launched after three suspects were seen by a local in the Samah area.
Teams of SOG Jammu, along with Akhnoor Police, are carrying out searches in the area.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police issued alert posters featuring a picture of Mohammed Rehan, an Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) terrorist. Rehan is a wanted terrorist by the Delhi Police and intelligence agencies.
The development came ahead of the 77th Republic Day celebrations as the Delhi Police has put in place an extensive, technology-driven security apparatus across Kartavya Path and the entire New Delhi district, in view of multiple terror-related threat inputs received from intelligence agencies.
Additionally, the Army’s Northern Commander, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, on Wednesday visited Kathua district and reviewed ongoing anti-terror operations.
Lt Gen Sharma was accompanied by General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Jammu-based White Knight Corps Lt Gen P K Mishra and Himachal Pradesh-based GOC of Rising Star Corps Lt Gen Rajan Sharawat.
