Brazil are out of the FIFA World Cup 2026! The South American giants suffered a shocking 1-2 defeat against Norway in the Round of 16 match played at New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday (Monday IST). Erling Haaland scored two goals in the second half (79th and 90th minutes) to knock Brazil out of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The defeat against Norway in the Round of 16 match is a bitter pill to swallow for Brazil as, for the first time in 36 years, they have failed to qualify for the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup.
They last failed to qualify for the quarterfinals of a FIFA World Cup in 1990.

Neymar equals Pele’s record
Neymar Jr. is Brazil’s highest goal-scorer in men’s football and on Sunday,
during their FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16 match against Norway, he entered his name in the history books.
The 34-year-old scored his first goal of this year’s World Cup for Brazil from the penalty spot in the 90+10th minute of the match, and that strike helped him become only the second player after Pele to score in four different FIFA World Cup editions for Brazil.
Neymar, who finished his FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign with one goal in two matches for the Selecao, had previously scored four goals in the 2014 edition, two goals in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and two goals in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Neymar is overall seventh player in the world, after Pele, Uwe Seeler, Miroslav Klose, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, and Ivan Perišić, to score in four different FIFA World Cup editions.
