If you are someone who grew up watching Shinchan, prepare yourself. A travel vlogger has shared an Instagram reel that is sure to send every ’90s kid into a full nostalgia meltdown.
Travel vlogger Nikhil
Tripathi, who has over 263K followers on Instagram, says in the reel that he visited Shinchan’s real school.
Watch the reel here:
His excitement during the tour of this real-life school in Japan, inspired by the iconic setting of the beloved anime, is so genuine that you can almost hear your childhood cheering in the background. From pastel-painted walls to familiar hallways and classrooms, the school looks like it’s been lifted straight out of the animation.
The reel opens with a red school bus rolling into frame, the same bus that picks up Shinchan in the show. “This,” he announces dramatically, “is Shinchan’s school bus.”
As he walks through the entrance of Nijigen No Mori, a theme park inspired by Japanese manga and anime worlds, he spots something that excites him. It’s a statue of Yoshinaga Sensei, Shinchan’s teacher, right outside the gate. It’s a life-sized model, and Tripathi appears genuinely starstruck.
“It felt like I broke the TV screen and walked right inside,” he says. “Exactly like we used to watch on TV.” For him, this wasn’t just a tourist stop, this was dream-come-true territory.
Once inside the classroom zone, the nostalgia only intensifies. The walls are covered with Shinchan’s and his friends’ drawings, recreated exactly how fans remember them. There’s even a maze where visitors must enter from one side and find their way out from another. It’s designed mostly for children, but irresistible even for adults who suddenly feel five years old again.
“I wish I was five years old too,” Tripathi laughs in the reel.
Then comes the highlight. After completing one of the activity tasks, he receives a reward. He proudly shows off his prize: a pack of Chocobi, the snack Shinchan is famously obsessed with. “Look what I got from Shinchan’s school,” he beams, holding up the treat.
From start to finish, the place is pure anime joy, and Tripathi makes sure viewers know it. “If you come to Japan and don’t visit this place, you’re definitely missing out,” he says.
By the time the reel ends, the message is clear: Nijigen No Mori isn’t just a fun anime-themed space, it’s a portal straight back to childhood.
And now, fans everywhere suddenly have one more reason to book that Japan trip.
