Mohammad Abbas is leading Pakistan’s fast-bowling attack in the ongoing second Test against England at Lord’s in London. Abbas picked up four wickets in the first innings and has dismissed five batters so far in the second innings. He completed his five-wicket haul by dismissing Ollie Robinson with the first ball of the 52nd over of England’s innings on Sunday (August 30).
Robinson was caught behind by Mohammad Rizwan after scoring 8 runs off 15 balls.
Abbas is the seventh Pakistani bowler after Khan Mohammad, Mudassar Nazar, Waqar Younis, Mushtaq Ahmed, Mohammad Amir and Yasir Shah to claim a five-wicket haul in a Test at Lord’s.

The record for the best bowling figures by a Pakistani bowler
in a Test innings at Lord’s belongs to Mudassar Nazar. He dismissed six English batters for 32 runs in 19 overs during the second innings of the August 1982 Test.
By taking his tally to nine wickets in the ongoing Test, Abbas has also broken Waqar Younis’ record for the most wickets by a Pakistani pacer in a Test match at Lord’s.
Younis finished with figures of 8 for 154 in 49 overs in the July 1996 Test. Abbas, meanwhile, has dismissed nine batters for 127 runs in 40.1 overs so far.

Only Yasir Shah has managed to take a 10-wicket haul for Pakistan in a Test at the Home of Cricket. Yasir picked up 10 wickets for 141 runs in 60 overs against England at Lord’s in July 2016.
The wicket of Robinson also helped Abbas equal Waqar Younis’ record for the most Test wickets by a Pakistani bowler against England at Lord’s.
Younis played three Tests against England at Lord’s between 1992 and 2001 and dismissed 17 batters, while Abbas has also taken 17 wickets in two Tests.

The record for the most wickets against England in Tests at Lord’s is jointly held by New Zealand’s Richard Hadlee and Australia’s Glenn McGrath. Hadlee played four Tests at Lord’s and dismissed 26 batters, while McGrath picked up 26 wickets in three Tests.
If Abbas manages to take one more wicket in the ongoing Test, he will break the record for the most Test wickets at Lord’s against England by an Asian bowler. He is currently tied with Bishan Singh Bedi, Kapil Dev, Ishant Sharma and Waqar Younis.
