New Delhi,May 1 (PTI) Drinking water arrangements have been made in 3,000 DTC buses across city, Transport minister Pankaj Singh said on Friday.
In line with the Delhi Heatwave Action Plan, Singh took part in launch of ‘Jaldoot’ initiative of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).
“DTC has deployed ‘Jaldoots’ at 23 major bus terminals across Delhi to provide free drinking water to passengers and commuters,” Singh said.
Further strengthening this effort, arrangements have been made to ensure the availability of free drinking water in approximately 3,000 DTC buses operating across the city, he added.
“The initiative is aimed at offering immediate relief to the general public, particularly daily commuters who are most vulnerable to extreme heat conditions,”
the transport minister said.
Singh said that DTC has undertaken special measures to safeguard the health and convenience of passengers during the ongoing heatwave conditions in the National Capital.
The ‘Jaldoot’ initiative, first launched last year under the direction of Singh, had received an overwhelmingly positive response from the public, officials said.
“This step significantly expands access to hydration for passengers throughout their journey,” he added.
According to Singh, the initiative reflects DTC’s continued commitment towards public service and passenger welfare, especially during adverse weather conditions. PTI SSM NB NB
