US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Saturday arrived in Kolkata and visited the Mother Teresa House Of The Missionaries of Charity. This is Rubio’s first official visit to India, marking a significant step in expanding bilateral cooperation between Washington and New Delhi in areas such as trade, technology, defence, energy security and Indo-Pacific strategy.
The Mother House in Kolkata is the international headquarters of the Missionaries of Charity. Founded by Mother Teresa in 1950, it acts as a convent, a place of pilgrimage, and the final resting place of Saint Teresa of Calcutta.
