Seraikela, May 2 (PTI) Two labourers died after allegedly falling from a height of around 20 feet, while working in an under-construction plant in the Adityapur Industrial Area of Jharkhand’s Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Saturday, police said.
The workers have been identified as Ramu Murmu (30) and Lakhindra Tiu (28), both residents of Nildungri in Gamharia.
“They were engaged in construction work of a private company at a height of around 20 feet and were wearing safety belts. Suddenly, they lost balance and fell to the ground at an awkward angle and suffered critical injuries,” RIT police station officer-in-charge, Sanjeev Singh, told PTI.
The injured labourers were rushed to MGM Hospital in Jamshedpur, where doctors declared them dead, Singh
said.
The bodies of the workers were kept at the hospital for post-mortem examination.
“Relatives of the workers protested at the site for compensation, and the factory management has been asked to arrange for suitable financial assistance,” the officer added. PTI ANB RBT
