The big win over CSK in front of home fans helped GT extend their tally of points to 18, but they remain second in the IPL 2026 points table
.On the other hand, after losing their eighth match of the ongoing season, CSK are out of the IPL 2026 playoffs race. CSK had to get the better of GT at Narendra Modi Stadium to remain alive in the top-four race, but they failed to achieve the objective.

Sudharsan played a knock of 84 runs from 53 balls against Chennai Super Kings at Narendra Modi Stadium to take his tally of runs to 638, and he is leading the Orange Cap race in IPL 2026. Gill, who scored 64 runs from 37 balls, is in 2nd place with a total of 616 runs.
CSK wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson was also in action on Thursday, and he had a chance to rise up in the Orange Cap leaderboard by playing an impressive knock for Ruturaj Gaikwad & Co., but he got out for a golden duck.
