Thane, Sep 5 (PTI) A sanitation inspector from Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district has been apprehended for allegedly demanding and accepting a silver ring as a bribe to issue an NOC to a local businessman, officials said on Saturday.
The accused, identified as Pandurang Vasudev Natekar (47), is posted at Kudal Nagar Panchayat, said Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials.
According to the ACB, a man had approached Natekar, seeking a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) for his shop to start a jewellery business.
The accused allegedly demanded a stone-studded silver ring valued at approximately Rs 1,200 to get the work done.
After receiving a complaint from the man, ACB laid a trap and caught Natekar while accepting the bribe on Friday.
A case has been registered
at Kudal police station under the Prevention of Corruption Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, they added. PTI COR NR
