Actor Jenny Slate has strongly criticised her It Ends With Us co-star Justin Baldoni in newly unsealed text messages that surfaced during an ongoing legal dispute involving Baldoni and Blake Lively.
According to documents obtained by Us Weekly, Slate, 43, sent a message to her team in June 2023 saying she wanted no involvement with Baldoni during the film’s promotional campaign. “I don’t want to do anything with Justin, I don’t want to talk about him,” she wrote, while also questioning how visible she should be during promotions and asking what Lively planned to do.
Jenny Slate Questions Justin Baldoni’s Public Image
In the messages, Slate accused Baldoni of presenting a public image that she claims did not match his behaviour behind the scenes.
She allegedly described him as a “false ally” and said she did not want to support what she felt was a carefully crafted “male feminist” image.
Slate used harsh language in the texts, calling Baldoni “a fraud,” “the biggest clown,” and “an intense narcissist.” She added that she had “never encountered anything like this dude.”
Claims of a Disturbing Set Experience
Slate, who played Allysa, the sister of Baldoni’s character in the Colleen Hoover film adaptation, said the filming experience was “really gross and disturbing.” She claimed that several people shared similar feelings and stated that both she and Blake Lively, 38, complained directly to the studio during production.
Deposition Details Alleged On-Set Incident
The unsealed documents also included a transcript from Slate’s deposition dated September 26. In it, she described an alleged incident in which Baldoni commented on Lively’s appearance using words such as “hot” and “sexy.”
Slate said Lively pushed back, telling him that those descriptions were not what she was aiming for. According to Slate, Baldoni repeated similar remarks even after Lively objected.
Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively Legal Battle Continues
Slate said she later told Baldoni that comments about actors’ bodies and wardrobe could range from unnecessary to inappropriate and distracting.
Baldoni and Lively have been involved in a legal dispute since December 2024, when Lively sued Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer Studios, alleging sexual harassment and alleging sexual harassment and an attempt to damage her reputation. Baldoni has denied all wrongdoing and filed countersuits, several of which were dismissed in June 2025. Despite this, his legal team has said he will continue to maintain his innocence as the case moves closer to trial, according to US Weekly.
