Delhi Metro has once again proved why it is called the lifeline of the national capital. A traveller recently shared how they managed to reach New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) from the airport in less than an hour, all thanks to the city’s smooth metro service. According to the viral post, the passenger landed in Delhi from Mumbai at 2:14 PM, collected their bags within 10 minutes and by 2:30 PM was already on the airport metro platform. Within 24 minutes, they arrived at NDLS and were seated inside their train by 3:10 PM.
The passenger explained that their entire trip from the airport to the railway station took less than an hour. They pointed out that this is exactly how public transport should function, without any trouble for the people regularly
using it.

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “Thank this Brahmin, the legend E. Shridharan, who revolutionised Metro in India. Long before Delhi Metro, there was Kolkata Metro and still is, but it didn’t thrive or inspire any other city.”
Another shared, “Delhi airport metro is a blessing. Have used it multiple times to catch both trains and flights. Smooth, fast, on time and hassle-free.”
“It’s just a shame that it doesn’t work 24 hrs a day and shuts down at 11:30 pm,” a comment read.
An individual stated, “Absolutely – express line – just 20-25 min from T3 to CP/New Delhi Railway station – absolutely the fastest and the coolest (the AC) way to reach – just add some walk as a bonus. Try the taxi from the airport – walk till some random parking floor with luggage & then face the traffic with poor AC of the pathetic old cab. Going to Meerut is also a real breeze now with RRTS.”
One more added, “This is a basic requirement and all airports and Railway Stations of Indian cities should have this facility. This will drastically reduce vehicle Air Pollution and road congestion. Maintain the quality of construction.”
Metro Fares Revised After Nearly Eight Years
This August, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) revised its fares for the first time in nearly eight years, raising the minimum fare to Rs 11 and the maximum to Rs 64. Depending on the route, fares have gone up by Rs 1 to Rs 4.
