Rajasthan Royals put Lucknow Super Giants on the backfoot in their chase of 160 at the Ekana stadium in the IPL 2026 match between the sides on Wednesday as the hosts’ top order crumbled.
Ayush Badoni, Rishabh Pant and Aiden Markram were all dismissed before they could get off the mark as the RR ran riot on the field. Nicholas Pooran and Mitch Marsh steadied the chase with measured innings.
LSG won the toss and chose to field, striking early as Shami produced a brilliant opening spell. He dismissed Jaiswal for 22 off just 12 balls, then sent Jurel back for a first-ball duck.
Prince Yadav entered the attack to remove Riyan Parag for 20 from 19 deliveries, before Mohsin struck again to dismiss Shimron Hetmyer for 22 off 18 balls.
Yadav returned to
claim the wicket of Donavan Ferreira for 20, while Ravindra Jadeja and Shubam Dubey stayed unbeaten on 43 and 19 respectively, guiding RR to 159/6 in their 20 overs.
LSG’s reply began in disarray as Ayush Badoni was run out without scoring. Skipper Rishabh Pant and key batter Aiden Markram then both departed for ducks, falling to Nandre Burger and Jofra Archer respectively, leaving Lucknow supporters stunned early in the chase.
Pooran was removed for 22 off 25 by Ravindra Jadeja, before Ravi Bishnoi castled Himmat Singh for a run-a-ball-15-innings. Marsh played a lone ranger half-century before Burger scalped the Aussie with skipper Parag picking up his catch on 55.
Brijesh Sharma came in to remove Mukul Choudhary and Mohammed Shami for 7 and 6 runs respectively before Archer completed his three-fer with the dismissals of Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan as RR registered a 40-run triumph.
