Two wounded sides, Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz, will face each other in match No. 7 of the 2026 Women’s Premier League on Wednesday, January 14. The Capitals, led by India’s middle-order star Jemimah Rodrigues, have suffered two painstaking losses at the hands of the Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants. Rodrigues & Co suffered a defeat by 50 runs against defending champions Mumbai Indians in their opening game played on Sunday (January 12). They then squandered a great opportunity to record a victory against the Giants, losing the final-over tussle by 4 runs.
Aussie great Meg Lanning-led UP Warriorz have also had a disappointing start to their campaign. After facing a gutwrenching loss by 10 runs against the Giants in their tournament opener,
they suffered a nine-wicket defeat to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Monday, January 12. The loss pushed UP Warriorz to the bottom of the points table, with a marginally better NRR giving Capitals the fourth place. Both teams will be desperate for a win on Wednesday.
DY Patil Stadium Pitch Report for DC-UPW WPL 2026 match
Navi Mumbai’s Dr DY Patil Sports Academy ground will play host to the Delhi Capitals-UP Warriorz WPL 2026 match on Wednesday. So far in the competition, the pitch has played largely well for batting, with the average score easily surpassing the 150-run mark. Batting has been especially easier in the second half, when the dew makes the ball skid onto the bat. Given the conditions, one can expect the team winning the toss to bowl first.
